Brain Dead Woman in Texas Removed From Ventilator/ Jahi McMath

Brain Dead Woman in Texas Removed From Ventilator

A woman declared brain dead in November remained on a ventilator to keep her heart beating despite her family's wish. The hospital citing Texas law that prohibits withdrawing life-sustaining care from pregnant women. Interestingly, the law the hospital wanted to comply with, shouldn't really apply to dead people. The woman was brain dead meaning by the Uniform Determination of Death Act that she was dead, beating heart or not, once you are brain dead there is literally no way for you to come back. Ironically lay people commonly define death as the cessation of the heart beat. But are you alive one second and die instantly once your heart beat ceases. Actually no. When your heart stops you are not dead, but you will be soon....that is if your brain continues without oxygen. The heart has the job of pumping blood to your body, 20% of your blood goes to your brain. So why is brain death viewed as less definitive than cardiac death. Obviously brain death is actually more definitive than cardiac death since we can bring you back if your heart stops for minutes you can still be resuscitated. But once your brain ceases to function in total and the cells die.....there are no brain transplants, no brain bypass, no replacement, for you.

Jahi McMath is another case of the tragedy that families who suffer a loss due to brain death with a beating heart. This young girl who suffered cardiac arrest with anoxic brain injury and subsequent brain death attracted a lot of attention as the family won a court battle to retain custody of her body and transfer her from the Oakland Children's Hospital where treating physicians wanted to proceed with removing the ventilator from Jahi's body.

Every time go swimming and put your head under the water you are just as close to death as someone with a stopped heart.  If you come up for air, if they get their heart started before the brain dies, you both live. Otherwise you drown. Someone during heart surgery on a heart bypass machine that breathes and pumps blood for them is alive, but they don't have a beating heart. Just as alive as a person with a beating heart and a dead brain is dead.

ITUNES SCAM FRAUD

Amazing, one of the seminal bands of my late adolescence was Guster. This is sort of an something to be ashamed of I guess.  There was this girl who gave me Lost and Gone Forever and Let's Keep It Together on mp3 cd the first week of college. I listened to this stuff while I studied throughout the first couple years of college very regularly. This is back to the days before I had an ipod. I listened to two different mp3 CDs each without about 150 songs on them. Morpheus Kazaa....sort of only expanded my music collection ... that much. Anyways...this band went to Tufts, where the girl I dated at the time I found Guster was going to school. This made for a bittersweet breakup soundtrack. Extra sentimental....until I found out every other song written is a breakup song. The other 40% are about falling in love and 10% are about food, dogs, and getting high.  Anyways, on the album Keep It Together, track 13 is called Silence, its literally 30 seconds of silence....and they charge $1.29 for this...like not even free, or 99 cents, but really, 1.29 for a long pause WTF, what idiot bought that shit  la carte.

Seize and Squeeze Every Last Drop Out of Your Youth

You'll never be younger than you are today. If only time travel was real. Who invented that by the way. What a mind fuck.  Don't put off till tomorrow what can be done today, you'll accomplish a lot more. If you think it would be great to go somewhere, just do it, make the money, save the money, spend the money. Go. Go for it. One day you'll be diving into the light for the last time. I found a white hair in my unibrow this weekend, overall my hair is still brown but these hairs are a real reminder that I'm not a puppy anymore. Man I've changed a lot. And you know who else has....Sinead O' Connor and Kelly McGillis.  Like jesus christ, wtf....scary...i remember when they were both hot...and they were.  If you ever saw Sinead in a wig twenty years ago....she was gorgeous...but now, not so much.
Just remember, old people were young when you were young.....soon you'll be old.
Stay Thirsty

The Abbey Road Blogs - Here Comes the Sun

An Abbey Road blog theme is fodder for at least a dozen pieces of junk. But this is just some silly ramblings, if you're reading this, shame on you. So Here Comes the Sun, George Harrison, really come into his own this album with Something and the blog titled masterpiece. By the way, New Zealand has the highest UV index in the world.....but nobody has a tan. New Zealand deserves a few posts, I gave this up not knowing what to write about and now I have more ideas....
