Money is your master

You can't eat money, you can't reproduce with it, you can't sleep in it, and it doesn't have magical healing properties.
Money doesn't love you back.
So why are we infatuated with it. Where did money come from?
According to wikipedia minted money began about 2600 years ago....
Can you imagine how advanced we could be in 2600 years....does anyone notice the time dilation that occurs, that in our minds, 10 million BC and  1 thousand BC feel about as far apart as 800 and 1300? How horrible our quality of life will seem to people in the year 4000 A.D.? If we make it that far?
